GTA 6 ONLINE FAQ
Yes. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will include an online multiplayer component. Based on GTA Online's massive success — generating over $1 billion annually — GTA 6 Online is expected to be a major part of the game's long-term revenue.
This has not been confirmed. GTA Online required owning GTA 5 at launch, then became free-to-play on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2022. It is possible Rockstar may adopt a similar model for GTA 6 Online, but nothing has been announced.
Cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series X has not been confirmed for GTA 6 Online. Given that GTA 6 launches exclusively on consoles in 2026, cross-play between the two platforms would be technically straightforward, but Rockstar has not addressed this.
Rockstar has not confirmed any character or progress transfer from GTA Online to GTA 6 Online. Based on past transitions (GTA 4 to GTA 5), a fresh start is more likely. However, some form of legacy reward for GTA Online veterans is possible.
