Why Vehicles Matter More in GTA 6
GTA has always been about the vehicles as much as the story. The joy of stealing a supercar and taking it on a high-speed police chase across Los Santos defined a generation of gaming. GTA 6 promises to push this further with a world that is three times larger and far more diverse in terrain.
The state of Leonida creates vehicle use cases that GTA 5 never had. The Keys archipelago demands speedboats and jet skis. The Grassrivers swampland calls for trucks, airboats, and off-road vehicles. Vice City's waterfront highways are built for supercars at sunset. Each region of the map has its own vehicle culture, and Rockstar will design the car list to match.
GTA Online's Vehicle Legacy
GTA Online added over 700 vehicles across its 10-year lifespan — more than double the launch roster. Many became iconic: the Oppressor Mk II, the Deluxo, the Nightshark. GTA 6 Online will build its own vehicle legacy over years of updates. For launch, expect a curated selection of roughly 250-350 vehicles covering every category — with much more to come.
GTA 6 VEHICLES FAQ
GTA 6 trailers have shown a wide range of vehicles including muscle cars, modern supercars, pickup trucks, motorcycles, speedboats, jet skis, and helicopters. The Florida setting also suggests planes and yachts will feature prominently. No official vehicle list has been released.
GTA games use fictional car brands inspired by real manufacturers — Pegassi (Lamborghini/Ferrari), Dewbauchee (Aston Martin), Bravado (Dodge/RAM), Vapid (Ford), and more. GTA 6 is expected to continue this tradition with the same fictional brands.
Almost certainly. GTA 5 launched with over 250 vehicles and GTA Online added hundreds more over 10 years. GTA 6 is expected to launch with a larger base vehicle count, reflecting the larger map and more diverse environments including ocean, swamp, and urban areas.
Flying cars like the Oppressor Mk II became controversial in GTA Online. Rockstar has not confirmed whether similar vehicles will appear in GTA 6. The base game is expected to focus on grounded vehicles, with futuristic additions potentially coming in post-launch GTA 6 Online updates.
Yes. The Florida Keys setting shown in Trailer 2 strongly implies significant water-based gameplay. Speedboats, jet skis, and possibly submarines are expected. Water-based heists and pursuits are almost certain given the geography of Leonida.
